This was one of those lastminute decisions that ended up being completely worth it.
I was at the top of Park Avenue in Laguna Beach and noticed the clouds were sitting right on the ocean, only a block or two inland from PCH. It was getting close to sunset, and I thought there was a chance the sun might sneak out at the last second.
It never fully broke through the clouds, but it didn't need to. Instead, the light spread across the entire sky, creating an incredible light box effect over the beach and ocean. The soft light, colors, and calm water all came together for a scene that was even better than I had hoped for.
Sometimes the shots you almost don't go after end up being your favorites.
