STEVE LERUM

is a Southern California photographer whose career has been built around one constant: the pursuit of exceptional light.

Growing up in Southern California, Steve developed an early connection to the Pacific Ocean through surfing and skimboarding. His professional photography career began documenting the sport for Skim Magazine and Victoria Skimboards, capturing athletes in split-second moments where timing, composition, and changing conditions mattered as much as the action itself. Those years on the beach laid the technical and creative foundation for everything that followed.

As his career evolved, Steve transitioned into architectural photography, specializing in documenting award-winning architecture and lighting design projects. Working alongside architects, lighting designers, manufacturers, and design firms throughout North America, he developed a style focused on revealing how natural and architectural light shape the experience of a space. His photography has helped tell the stories behind projects recognized throughout the design industry and published in leading architectural publications.

Throughout his professional career, Steve never stopped creating personal work. Every opportunity to travel became another chance to photograph coastlines, mountains, deserts, and oceans around the world. His fine art photography reflects the same patience he learned photographing the ocean decades ago, often returning to a location multiple times to wait for the ideal combination of weather, tide, season, and light.

Working primarily with long exposures, Steve creates images that simplify chaotic scenes into calm, timeless compositions. Whether standing on a rocky shoreline before sunrise or waiting through countless sunsets for untouched sand and perfect receding waves, his process is built on persistence rather than luck.

Today, Steve's limited-edition fine art collections are created for collectors who appreciate craftsmanship, authenticity, and the stories behind every image. Each photograph represents not only a place, but the patience required to experience it at exactly the right moment.

Steve continues to photograph architecture and design while expanding his collection of museum-quality landscape and seascape photography, bringing together decades of experience photographing both the built environment and the natural world.
